Interested in being on the Mayor's Youth Advisory Council?

If you will be a junior or senior in the 2016-2017 school year, and either attend Clayton high school OR are a Clayton resident, you are eligible join the fun! The commitment to be on MYAC is threefold:

1. MYAC MEETS MONTHLY WITH THE MAYOR

for great conversation!

Members of the Mayor's Youth Advisory Council meet with Mayor of Clayton monthly (first Wednesdays). One student is chosen each month to be the youth mayor and run the meeting. Members have in-depth discussions with the mayor about current Clayton issues. Many of the meetings with include tours of Clayton goverment facilities. All others will be at City Hall in council chambers.

2. MYAC WATCHES LOCAL GOVERNMENT IN ACTION

and it IS more interesting than sausage being made!

Members are asked to attend at least two city commission or board meetings each semester so that they can witness local governement in action, as decisions are made that affect their downtown, parks and neighborhoods. Attending these meetings enriches the monthly conversations with the mayor

3. MYAC GIVES BACK TO THE COMMUNITY,

because Clayton youth are committed to a better world!

Every year MYAC completes a service project for the community. This work is completed outside of scheduled meeting time, and much of the work may be done as it works into your schedule. This time can be counted towards CHS community service hours. Time granted will depend on the execution time of the project.

Usually there is also opportunity in the spring to work at one a public forum related to the April election. This year the students hosted a Conversation with the Mayor of Clayton at the high school library.
