Ellenwood Subdivision

Rich and his wife Kathy moved to Ellenwood in 2005. Rich took on the Trustee position less than four years later in 2009. Their time here has essentially been as empty-nesters, as their daughter married in 2005 and lives in North Carolina, and their son finished college later that same year and moved to San Francisco.

Arriving in the area from the New York City suburbs in 1982 without a familiar name to call on anywhere in the region, both Rich and Kathy quickly found St. Louis a welcoming, thriving place to live and raise their family. Recruited to the city by Anheuser-Busch, Rich spent twelve years with the Brewery in a variety of positions, ultimately becoming President of Busch Properties before leaving for a consulting career with Ernst & Young. Meanwhile, Kathy had started her own wealth management firm in 1990 and finally ‘hired’ her consultant spouse in 2007 to help manage operations and administration in support of the exciting growth they were experiencing. Rich continues as a Director at Matter Family Office, managing corporate activities.

In addition to his Ellenwood trustee responsibilities, Rich serves the larger community on the Organization Development Committee of the United Way of Greater St. Louis, and was elected Clayton Ward 1 Alderman in April 2014.

Rich attended Duke University, where he earned his BA in Economics …and met Kathy. He received an MBA from Columbia University in New York. Outside of work, you can find Rich working his yard, playing golf with Kathy many summer afternoons, playing paddle tennis with buddies most Saturday mornings throughout the winter, taking his vintage Corvette out for a drive on a sunny day, and walking Mika through Forest Park most mornings at 5:30am.
